I just installed Oracle 10g (hopefully successful) on my Linux machine
(SuSE 9.0, Kernel 2.6.7, 512MB Ram).
The software installation went fine and after reconfiguration of my
local firewall I can use sqlplus etc. to connect to other database
instances available here.
But I'm in trouble in getting a local DB-Instance installed.
I start dbca, walk through the dialogs (standard db, standard sizing;
it shall be a 10g demo-db for my personal use) up to the last window
"Datenbank erstellen" (=create database). When it then tries to start
the creation process it directly finishes with "ORA-27125
: unable to
create shared memory segment".
That happens always; even after a boot where dbca is the first
X-Windows programm which starts.
The Kernel Parameters are (AFAIK) set properly (following
